About me
Hi, my name is Mateusz. I’m a software engineer with a background in frontend development. I care about explicit code, long-term maintainability, and tools that reduce complexity. In practice, this often means avoiding unnecessary abstractions and dependencies — something that has become increasingly common in the frontend ecosystem.
For some time now, I’ve enjoyed solving programming puzzles and participating in events like Advent of Code or Everybody Codes. These challenges regularly push me outside my comfort zone and force me to learn things unrelated to my daily work, which I find both rewarding and occasionally frustrating.
Outside of work, I explore new programming languages to broaden how I think about software. Recently, I’ve been particularly enjoying Go — its simplicity, focus on fundamentals, and rich standard library align well with my preferences, and it also happens to power this site.
Besides programming, I have a range of interests, with spending time in nature being the most important one. I enjoy hiking — preferably in the mountains or a forrest — and try to visit the Alps as often as possible. I also enjoy cycling, badminton, and generally staying active. A quiet evening with a good TV show or a movie has its place as well.
